The latest trend in body jewelry is the tongue
barbell. Get yours now because your customers will be asking for
them! For the tongue and for fun, it's the piercing craze that is
sweeping across Europe. Now they are here. We are your wholesale
source for the latest in pierced body jewelry. A tongue ring is known as a barbell or dumbbell.
It has a straight shaft with a ball on the end of each end.
Barbells are probably the most common body piercing jewelry after
rings. The most common place you will see a straight barbell is in
the Tongue. Typically a 14g 5/8" is the standard size for most Tongue
piercings. One usually gets pierced with a 14g 3/4" or
7/8" Steel Barbell to allow for swelling. Once the swelling of
the tongue has reduced it is recommended to replace with a shorter
barbell. Barbell Body Jewelry is jewelry attached to the
body by means of a straight rod. The barbell is simply a wire with a
ball or other object on each end. The ball can be unscrewed from one
end to allow the wire rod to be slipped into a hole pierced in the
skin. Once through the skin, the ball is screwed back onto the end
of the barbell to hold it closed. Barbells are fashionable as earrings, belly
rings, nipple rings, or other body piercings such as on the
eyebrows. The balls at the ends can be metal or acrylic plastic. The
plastic balls often come in colors, patterns, or stripes and may
feature crystals. Please note: To prevent transmission of disease
and to address the health concerns of our customers, we do not
accept returns on body jewelry.
A Maltese Cross is simply a
cross composed of four arrowhead shapes meeting at the points. The
outside edges are typically flat, but may have a V shaped
indentation. The Maltese cross has been used as a symbol for
hundreds of years. It is named for an order of crusader knights
based on the island of Malta in the 1500's, though the symbol is
much older than that. It is often historically called a "Cross
Patee (patty)" or a "Cros Formee (formy)". In 1813 it
was introduced as a Prussian decoration for to combatants for acts
of heroism, bravery or leadership skills during their liberation
from Napoleon. The symbol was revived by Hitler who included a
swastika in its center and is still used as a symbol by neo-Nazis.
Though it has been used by those with more sinister motives, one
should never forget that this cross has been used as a symbol of
Christianity for far longer than it has been associated with the
Nazis.
